Secondary Report May 2011
· Academics
o The final D/F progress reports will go out Friday, May 13.
o The Senior Projects class open house will be May 24th. The seniors have been presenting their projects and will continue through May 20.
o Senior Finals will be May 24, 25, 26. Seniors Check out on May 26.
o The remaining student’s finals will be June 1, 2, 3. Check out is on June 3rd after finals.
o IEN origination teachers have begun their training for next year.
o Teachers are looking into dual credit requirements and options for next year as well. We are hoping to partner with LCSC and UI for a few dual credit courses.
· Activities
o The FFA chapter had a nice banquet last week with many awards and the 2011-12 chapter officers announced as well.
o The Physics class will be traveling to Silverwood on May 18 for Physics day.
o The JH track meet is in Moscow on May 18 as well.
o The HS Drama class will be performing the play “Scared Stiff” May 24 and 25.
o Spring Music concerts are quickly approaching, with the Cabaret on May 26.
· Athletics
o Spring sports district and regional tournaments will be held this weekend.
§ Baseball and Softball are both the #2 seeds going into district play.
§ The majority of our track athletes will be competing in Kootenai this weekend. This is a regional meet between Districts 1 and 2.
o State tournaments are May 20 and 21.
§ State Baseball is at College of Idaho in Caldwell.
§ State Track is at BSU.
§ State Softball is at Airport Park in Lewiston.
· Vision 21
o The “Let’s Get Active Genesee” fun run will occurred on Friday, May 6th from 1-3pm. In general, the event was a success, and all of the students contributed in one way or another. Some more of the specifics are:
§ Great interaction between elementary and secondary students
§ More relevance of materials covered in Health classes.
§ Great opportunity for students and staff to work together (side by side).
