· Academics
o Secondary parent/teacher conference thoughts
o Parents appreciated the evening and morning hours for conferences.
o Parents who were contacted appreciated us helping arrange the times for conferences.
o Some teachers had more conferences than they did in the Fall, others not as many. Some also did conferences over the phone after making intial contact by email.
o Teachers also liked the change of the conference times offered, felt the conferences were meaningful, and felt there was more flexibility for parents, which may encourage more to attend in the future.
o IEN webinar tomorrow to start solidifying how we will use the IEN to offer and reciprocate classes to other schools in the region and state for next year.
· Activities
o Genesee Jazz Concert has been re-scheduled for April 25th at the UI Music building recital hall. We will bus our students to the UI and they will get to perform in a new venue. All parents will be invited-should be a neat experience for our students.
o FFA state- 22 students participated in FFA state events this past weekend.
o The 2012 Distinguished Young Woman for Genesee is Ryelee Schlueter. Miranda Carter is runner up.
· Athletics
o The track co-op seems to be working out well with Moscow. We are using the white activity bus to haul our athletes to some of the meets that Moscow isn’t attending, or to help keep our students in class longer if possible. We will settle the expenses at the end of the season.
o Softball had been able to get in all of their games, while baseball has played a couple and re-scheduled the rest. Spring weather has made practice and games very difficult.
o JH Bball finishes this week, with our last home games tonight and tomorrow.
· Vision 21
o The “Let’s Get Active Genesee” fun run will occur on Friday, May 6th from 1-3pm. The purpose of this event is to bring about even more awareness of the importance of staying active and leading a healthy lifestyle. The health classes have been studying exercise and nutrition, and this event will allow them to put their findings into practice. Additionally, this event can involve the entire school, and will be a chance to make connections between younger and older students, while being active. This will involve students and staff from 1-12, and there will be a choice of two courses for students and adults to participate. The secondary students have a variety of ways they can assist in the fun run, while the elementary students will choose either to run or walk. Some of the secondary classes are making items to be used in the fun run, others will be helping design and determine activities as well. Details are being finalized.
