Activities
o
FFA was very successful in Ag Mech, Forestry and
Dairy food Products in May. The FFA Chapter gained top honors in 13 of 14 CDE’s
in 2015-16! Genesee had the high individual in EVERY event they were involved
in!
o
Student Awards Assembly was held on May 24, with
awards for all types of academic efforts as well as accolades from various
clubs, presented by teachers.
o
42 students in grades 7-12 went to Silverwood
for the day as part of the IDFY club activities.
o
Genesee Spring Cabaret was very nice with many
talented performers.

Athletics
o
Abby Kirkham placed 5th in the 300 hurdles at
the state track meet.
o
Cierra Mayer placed 1st in the 100, 2nd
in the 400 and 3rd in the 200, and triple jump.
o
The Softball team won the league, district
championship and the state Softball tournament.
o
Genesee was 2nd in the Schools of
Excellence Program through the IHSAA this year.

Vision 21
Fun Run on June 3rd went well. We followed the Fun Run with
the Final PRIDE Assembly, which involved raffle drawings and teacher trivia.
Students were recognized for perfect attendance, and we had 2 students with
perfect attendance this semester. Students were also recognized for being on
time (no tardies) with a complimentary candy bar. There were 44 students with
zero tardies for spring semester.
SWPBIS--We had 78 different students who were acknowledged in our PRIDE
Assemblies this year, and they received a gift card, mystery bag or a t-shirt.
Part of the students recognized participated in minute-to-win-it challenges and
held 3 pizza parties for 55+ students. Each assembly we had around 28 students
directly participate in the assemblies, which is roughly 20% of the student
body each assembly. We plan to continue this type of acknowledgement in the
future, with input from the students. Thank you to Mr. Morrow for organizing
the PRIDE Assemblies this year. We will re-visit the assemblies with the ASB
and see what they would like to do differently for next school year.
Mrs. Sperber’s Geometry class presented the “school in 2050 project” as
their year-end Final to a panel of judges. The students had to design and
present a bid for their school plans as it would be in 2050. There were
budgeted amounts from 9 million to 851 million.
1:1 devices were collected by class advisors as part of the check-out
process for the end of the school year. Many of the backpacks suffered tears
around the zippers, but for the most part everything else was turned in and Mr.
Cerovski will begin the process of getting the machines ready for next year. Some
computers are showing more wear than others so students will be reminded next
Fall that the machines need to last for two more years, be gentle.

District Update
o
The SB/little league fields are being used
non-stop by 7 different teams from our town. There are still several little
projects to be completed to finish up phase 1 of the project. These include
graveling the path around the outside of the ball fields, planting grass seed
in the areas outside of the ball fence, running power to the Infields and dugouts, and finishing
up parking lot to assist with parking.

Phase
2 will begin with moving dirt, relocating the GAA storage container and removing
the fence from the gate at the SW end of the FB field.
