·         Academics

§  The numbers will vary from year to year based on the class sizes, classes offered and how the credits are offered and how many students take advantage of the opportunity. The year-long classes offer the dual credit in the spring, that’s why there are only numbers for the spring.

·         Activities
o   Music students participated in the Jazz Festival last week on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. All groups performed at a high level and had a great experience.
o   The Jazz Concert with the University of Idaho was held in Moscow at the UI Music Building on Monday February 29th, 7pm. Students were bused to Moscow, and the concert was the had the best attendance I’ve seen if years. We are so fortunate to be able to have this concert for our students and community. 18 years strong and hopefully many more!
o   18 students will participate in Boise at the State BPA conference this week.
o   Congrats to FFA parli-pro team that won in the recent District CDE. Congrats to the Agronomy team that also won in the February District CDE. Genesee will have 2 new District Officers, Sara Trees and Virginia Monk, and congrats to Sara who also took 3rd in prepared speaking.

·         Athletics
o   Congrats to the girls basketball team on making it to the state tournament for the third consecutive year with a 3rd place finish in the tournament! 
o   Congrats to the boys basketball team for making it to the state tournament for the 6th year in a row and winning the sportsmanship award.
o    JH Bball has begun, and games will run through the end of the month. The schedule is set up in quads this season for the whole league.  We have 19 girls out for JH Bball and 17 boys out for JH Bball.
o   Spring sports first practice was Feb. 26th.
§  16 students are out for Softball-Coach Thompson and Coach West are back again to lead the team. First game is March 14th @ Juliaetta.
§  15 students are out for baseball- Kevin Maurer and Brad Neumayer are back to coach again this year. First game is March 14th @ Juliaetta.
§  28 students are out for Track- Mr. Sams is coaching, and he is assisted by Bob Schwenne and Kerby Kirkham. First meet is March 15 in Kamiah.



·         Vision 21
o   The Calculus students are finishing up the “Bottle Project.” Students from each of the 3 schools worked together in teams to determine bottle specifications then designed their own 20 oz. bottle.
o   The 8th grade Health classes is starting work on the healthy meal unit.

·         Rec District Update

o   People are working hard to finish up the softball field this weekend. A huge thanks to Jay Meyer, Jim Woods and many others for their time and talents to make this project a reality. First home softball game is March 15th if all goes well and the weather holds!
